Hair Woes

I think hair is one of the many "Grass is always greener" situations.
I used to have thinner, straighter hair. I would have
given my left arm {I'm right handed you see} to have
long, thick, luscious locks that could hold curl.

Then- around high school or something- as a lame part of my maturation
I got bushy thicker hair.
It still didn't hold a curl well- but at least it had some body.
*****
Fast forward a few years and a baby later and now my hair is just that.
Long, thick, luscious locks.

Okay, okay. It isn't all that it's cracked up to be.
Most days I wake up and it's just so thick that if I leave it down I feel like my
head is on fire cuz I get so hot chasing PK.
*Cue Napoleon Dynamite*:

"Well, when I came home from school my head started to get really hot.
So I drank some cold water, but it didn't do nothing.
So I laid in the bathtub for a while, but then I realized that it was my hair
that was making my head hot. So I went into my kitchen and I shaved it all off. " From here

Seriously. This is what I feel like everyday. I just want to shave it off!
Basically- I just have never had this type of hair before-
so I don't have any idea what to do with it.
What do you do when you have any question these days?

Sock bun tutorials are basically everywhere- and you may have already tried it.
I was seriously skeptical. There's no way that my a sock could help me out-
or so I thought.

***Unfortunately I do not have a "before" picture.
This tutorial shows how to put your hair in a sock bun (also a super cute hairstyle!).
I did that to my slightly damp hair and slept on it. Woke up and this is what I saw.

I seriously didn't add any extra curling or anything! Crazy, right!
In all fairness- my hair does have natural curl to it- but nothing like this :)

All I did was pin my bangs back and straightened the very top part to get rid of some frizz.

What do you think? Are you going to go try this?

***My hair is actually a few inches longer (this was taken back in October)
which I am stoked about
{now that I have a hairstyle that works for my hair- and
my lifestyle (no time for hours in front of the mirror anymore!)}

  1. I have been growing my hair out specifically to be able to utilize the 'sock bun curl' method.
