Thanksgiving 2013

{Hundreds of pictures were deleted off my phone by accident... so no pictures to add to this post!)

We had a nice Thanksgiving. We went up to Byron to visit with my family. We have that short 3 hour trip pretty much memorized by now- even PK recognizes when we pass the highway ramp that leads to Byron, then asks if we are going to Oma's house (haha).

This trip we (Jed, baby M, and myself) stayed with my brother Grant in his new house. Pk stayed at Oma's house the whole trip! It was nice to have a small break from my favorite 3 year old. Even though baby M still needed nursing in the morning, meaning we didn't sleep in much, it was still nice to devote my entire attention to just one babe (who will be 1 in a month!)

For Thanksgiving we had a delicious spread of lots of yummy food. Jed made his famous homemade rolls (which I have no part in- so ask him if you want the recipe) and I made green bean casserole. I am not known for my cooking- it is always a mystery to me whether or not something will turn out right. To my complete surprise, my green bean casserole was pretty good! (Well, it's hard to go wrong with Velveeta cheese & cajun seasoning!) All the other food was really good too- of course.

Recently, my mom learned this card game that is reportedly similar to Canasta. It's really fun! We all played for hours over the course of a few days, and with each round changing the requirements to play, it never got boring. Between cards and recorded episodes of Duck Dynasty, it was actually a relaxing holiday!

We have so much to be grateful for this year- including the birth of a healthy baby boy. Our growing family is blessed in so many ways. We are especially grateful for our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because of Him I have found purpose and direction in my life, as well as renewed strength to face trials.  We had a marvelous Thanksgiving, and hope you did too!
